E-AGRICULTURE
A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as consumers of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users are limited to the active viewing of content that they created and controlled. Web 2.0 solutions offer people in rural areas a platform for networking and knowledge exchange Web 2.0 in agriculture provides various collaboration features in agriculture industry to increase the productivity and exchange / share information between farmers.
Web2Fore-Agri:-
Blogs / Wiki Platforms can be used for knowledge sharing and it is a platform where farmers share knowledge on better farming methods using local content. Agriculture Farmers Community Groups can setup the web2.0 portal and to share and educate farmer community. This site encourages farmer participation. Farmers can post comments, cross-link reference, social tags and notes. A Blog is a website based on which users can post messages that are chronologically stored and other users can comment on these entries. All entries are archived in reverse chronological order
e- Conference -- Conferencing tool can be used in such circumstances to generate ideas or address challenges. Some time pertinent issues need to be addressed immediately both amongst the Agriculture department Staff and with the farmers from differing locations.
Podcasting Although this is relatively new to our setting, the importance of audio in terms of knowledge sharing cannot be underestimated.
RSS RSS site can be placed on the main website and all other social online networking tools with intention of alerting the people that have activated it of the frequently updated agricultural content.
1. Agriculture department will setup the Web 2.0 sites (Country and Region) and posting the information related to agriculture announcements, weather information, cultivation tips, RSS feeds, government direction, procedures and policies, agriculture loan, subsidies etcs., Country specific site will be designed at top level site and all region and local specific site will be created based on the top level template.
2. Agriculture department will work with local/region specific farmers community group to setup the center for farmers to access the internet and agriculture site and educate them to use of the sites for agriculture.
3. Agriculture department define the security control (public/private/region specific) and monitor all sites and usage to initiate farmers community groups the effective usage of forum for agriculture. RSS feeds on the main page would retrieve agriculture information from other agriculture web sites to feed latest agriculture related news, tips, pest control, expert ideas etc., to promote farmers to do an innovative ways of doing things in agriculture. This site would be one site shop for farmers to get all information related to agriculture and opportunities to share/exchange their information with other local farmers / community groups / other regions farmers and also get information from Govt. and agriculture experts.
4. Farmers Subscribes to the sites to receive agriculture information via SMS text message, e-mail or by logging on those sites.
5. Agriculture department post the information to the public through main portal page and publish them.
6. Individual Farmers or local Farmer Community Group views the information and also responds to the post for additional queries. Site forums allow to both farmers and agriculture department/experts to follow the forum topics and respond to their queries.
7. Automated system in the web 2.0 portal notifies any emergency weather alerts and agriculture timely important news to farmers. Farmers can also receives message through message center in their subscribed site message center, email and SMS text message in phone.
